Sharon Van Etten is an artist who can write her own ticket-who does so regularly, and who it seems will always make the kind of music that we fall for-just from the opening notes. On her new single, “Comeback Kid” she quickly reminds us why we were fans in the first place, while getting us excited for her upcoming album.
The almost symphonic opening is met with thick drums and synths that peak your interest before Van Etten adds her vocals to draw you closer. There’s an energy to the song that’s undeniably powerful-showing Van Etten firing on all cylinders before this hook heavy organ hops on the song, owning your attention. At just a couple of hairs above the three minute mark, the song is a definite welcomed addition to what will make us look forward to upcoming releases.
You can stream the song on all platforms, you can purchase it from digital store fronts, or you can preorder Sharon Van Etten’s new album, Remind Me Tomorrow directly from Jagjaguwar Records ahead of its January 18 release date. Sharon Van Etten will be performing limited dates before the end of the year, beginning with this weekend at Austin City Limits Festival in Austin, Texas. She’s also performing at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado on October 9, and at the Treasure Island Music Festival in Oakland on October 14.
