Julia Jacklin is a treasure in so many ways. The Australian singer songwriter has one of those voices that stays with you for days after you first hear it, her approach to crafting a song is like no one else, and her live performances are like sirens calling ships towards the rocks. Her latest single, “Body” just keeps us interested, and makes us bigger fans than we already were.
The song does what Jacklin does best, it places her vocals at the top of the mix, gently finding its way between faint drums and a dancing piano. The offbeat drum that gets the track going is met with Jacklin’s heavenly voice, creating its own universe. Jacklin is best when she keeps things soft and tender, though that’s not to say that her more indie rock leanings don’t work when she goes to them. Here, she’s keeping things softer, and anyone who hears the song should become an immediate fan.
You can stream “Body” on all streaming sites or purchase it from digital outlets and directly from Polyvinyl Records. Julia Jacklin performs three sold out performances in the U.K. in Late November. November 27 at Omeara in London, November 28 at Yes in Manchester, and November 29 at Glad Cafe in Glasgow.
