Superchunk Drop New 7″ For Charity

Superchunk seem to have covered their bases in 2018. A politically charged full length with What a Time to Be Alive, a solid tour, and now the third in a rare and limited 7″ series for charity. Like the 7 inch singles for “I Got Cut” for Planned Parenthood South Atlantic and “Break The Glass” for Southern Poverty Law Center, their new release is actually a new song featuring vocals from Damian Abraham. With “Our Work is Done,” the four piece is set to donate the proceeds to 350.org.

The two song release opens with the fevered pace of “Our Work Is Done,” reminding listeners of songs from the era of Here’s Where the Strings Come In, but with more intensity. The added vocals add a heft alongside Mac’s melodic voice. The song hits and bangs while the dual vocals work on multiple levels on drive the lyrics home. The B-side, “Total Eclipse” offers up a squealing opening before the band gets creative on the fret boards. It’s a punk aesthetic for a song that really isn’t punk at all.

You can stream the tracks on all streaming platforms, you can order the 7″ Mp3’s directly from Merge Records, as both of the limited run vinyls have since sold out. You can also donate to any of the charities listed above, Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, The Southern Poverty Law Center, and 350.org.
