Waxahatchee Announces 2019 Tour

Being an indie rock artist in today’s world can be stressful and busy life. Many artists are touring more to make up for the fact that album sales aren’t where they used to be. So after a long run supporting last year’s Out in the Storm including a run of solo dates, Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee is back touring in support of her latest, Great Thunder.  Though to many it’s as if she never came off of the road, the list of tour dates starting next year look like a solid one, and include Detroit’s Bonny Doon as direct support.

Where Out in the Storms had rock notations, Great Thunder feels like a personal journey fueled by softer ballads closer to the early works of Waxahatchee. The tour, should definitely feel that way as well, as the songs should reverberate well with whoever hears them in person.

You can stream Great Thunder alongside the rest of the Waxahatchee catalog on all streaming sites, you can purchase Great Thunder in all digital shops, or you can grab a limited yellow vinyl directly from Merge Records. The Waxahatchee tour is currently underway in New Zealand and Australia, tomorrow at Neck of the Woods in Auckland, NZ before a seven date run through the outback. The U.S. leg begins February 21 in Tacoma, Washington at Alma Mater and runs until March 03 at Irenic in San Diego. A complete list of tour dates can be accessed here

David Garrick

David Garrick has spent the last five years interviewing some of the most intriguing and engaging artists performing today. Everyone from Angel Olsen to Phoebe Bridgers, Wire to Yo La Tengo, Snail Mail to Soccer Mommy, Ghost to First Aid Kit, The Breeders to Protomartyr, and many more. He's a giant fan of music of pretty much any genre; but especially to the underdogs. He's been known to see more concerts in a week than many people will see in a year.
