Buxton’s New Songs Pop in Person

We caught Buxton at their album release for their latest stunner, Stay Out Late and it was a doozy of a show. Running through a mix of songs old and new, the band brought in extra players to make the night more magical, as well as a magician and a fellow Texan to round out the evening.

Raleigh’s Casey Magic brought his D.I.Y. magic on as the opener, and shocked us with his trickery and showmanship. There’s a reason this guy opens for a ton of bands, because he’s the opener everyone wants. He can wow everyone there, but he doesn’t blow a band off of the stage at the same time. He was followed by the rock infused folk sounds of Denton’s Claire Morales, who gave the crowd a performance to remember. Morales’ latest release All That Wanting sounded stellar as she performed with energy and passion, like it was her last show ever. Luckily for us, it wasn’t.

When we got to Buxton, the band has come a long way since their early days. Their tone chasing sound and folk inspired sounds made for a great set full of new tracks and old favorites. The songs from Stay Out Late popped with an energy that’s on the album, but just kicks in person. Their reworked versions of old favorites came to life in a new way, offering the strongest version of a band that still has plenty of weight behind their music.

You can purchase Stay Out Late from all digital storefronts or directly from New West Records. You can stream the album on all platforms as well. Buxton will be on the first leg of their U. S. tour beginning November 30 at The Caledonia Lounge in Athens, Georgia until December 09 in Nashville at the High Watt. A complete list of their dates can be found here
