Moves Debuts A Dazzling New Sound

Formerly known as Holy Ghost Tent Revival, North Carolina band Moves is shaking things up with both a new name and an inspired new sound. On Moves’ upcoming self-titled album, out December 14 via Soul Step Records, the group has bid farewell to the banjo and its bluegrass/ragtime infused sound, and transformed into a dazzling, soulful pop/rock band.

Moves has dropped four tracks ahead of Friday’s album release, with “Long Cold Nights” being the most emblematic of the band’s reinvented style. Leading with an electric guitar and horn-based intro, the track carries an easy groove throughout, supported by the alluring vocals of singer Kevin Williams. The sweet harmonies and piano riffs add a certain warmth to the song, giving it an almost jazzy feel.

The group has three lead vocalists – Kevin Williams, Stephen Murray and Dulci Ellenberger – who each bring a unique quality to the music. Moves clearly understands how to utilize its members’ strengths to best complement each other, drawing on varied influences to create an album that is diverse in style yet wonderfully cohesive. If you’re into bands like Houndmouth, Lake Street Dive, and Givers, you’ll be an instant fan of Moves. The band’s new tunes are catchy, upbeat, and guaranteed to get you moving.

You can stream “Long Cold Nights” on all streaming platforms. You can purchase Moves’ new self-titled album on exclusive colored vinyl from Soul Step Records beginning December 15.
