Cass McCombs seems to have it all figured out. With a sound that’s reminiscent of the past but more forward in how he structures things, McCombs just dropped a new video for his song “The Great Pixley Train Robbery,” and it just makes us more excited for his new album Tip Of The Sphere due February 8.
Because McCombs is such a seasoned songwriter, the track has plenty of bends and valleys. With a pacing that is a bit removed from what you may expect, the song works on multiple levels while showing off how far McCombs has come going into the new album. While he tells the tale above the music, there’s a lot happening here that he seems to hold together and creates a song that you will probably hum along to. There’s also a nice touch with a squealing guitar that comes in and just takes his sound even further.
You can stream the song on all platforms, you can watch the video above or on YouTube, and you can preorder Tip Of The Sphere from all digital shops or in multiple bundles and formats directly from ANTI- Records. Cass McCombs is set to start touring on March 04 in Washington, DC at Union Stage until June 06 at EartH in London. A complete run down of his available tour dates can be found here.
