Kevin Devine Shares New Song Off of Split with Cavetown

For a good while now, we’ve been fans of Kevin Devine. The solo artist seems to bring joy wherever he plays, whether it be with a solo set or from his Goddamn Band backing him. On his latest drop with Cavetown, part of the Devinyl Splits series, Devine goes for broke on “Only Yourself” and it pays off handsomely.

Tender and sweet, just Devine’s soft vocals ringing above his acoustic guitar, the song rings like a beautiful hymn that’s hard to dislike. The backing vocals add a nice touch, but the lead vocals and added organ make the magical feel very real here, and show how developed Devine is as a songwriter and a performer.

You can stream “Only Yourself” on all streaming sites, you can purchase a digital version of the track on Bandcamp, or you can preorder the limited run vinyl from Bad Timing Records before its release date of February 1. Kevin Devine will be on tour tonight in Aachen, Germany at Musikbunker until January 26 in Munich at Heppel & Ettlich. Then he’ll perform as Kenny O’Brien & the O’Douls for two shows at Mercury Lounge in New York on March 17. A complete listing of his tour dates can be found here
