We often wonder, can you really trust an artist today that’s not playing in multiple projects? Down in Houston it seems that many or the musicians have the ability to link up and form new projects, so it’s not uncommon to see multiple bands made up of the same people intertwined. We heard kind of early on that there was a new screamo project featuring Lindsay & Mercy of football, etc. as well as John from Rose Ette. What we’re getting is Overo, a mixture of screamo intensity and emo melodies that works on multiple levels. Now the four piece has just dropped their demo Cold Concrete/Shattered and it’s a doozy.

Though just two songs, there’s a lot happening here on these almost seven minutes of music. Steering from traditional screamo and killing your ears with blistering squeals, the band finds a way to mix in melodic vocals and harmonized notes as well as intense and dark screams. It all works and makes us excited for what this group has planned next.
