The music of Holy Golden is a mixture of psych pop and dreamy new wave. Last year when they released their latest masterpiece Sleepwalkers in the Milky Way, we were pretty amazed at how it reminded us of acts like Kate Bush and Eurythmics, without sounding lifted or copied. Now with their new video for the track “Seven of Diamonds,” the circle is complete with these two, while offering imagery to go alongside the music that they create.
The video seems to almost highlight the nuances in the song. Feeling cinematic and grander than the typical music video, there’s a royal appearance to it all. Complete with a story line that’s easy to follow, the conceptualized look fits perfectly with the new wave induced track. With direction from French/Australian director Beatrice Pegard, it’s closer to a vision on a larger scale than you may be expecting, and was filmed at Fontainebleau Castle in France. The pieces of art history and surrealism are in your face while not being overbearing, complimenting the band’s music perfectly.
You can stream the video above or on YouTube all you’d like. You can stream Sleepwalkers in the Milky Way on all streaming sites, you can purchase it through all digital shops, or you can pick it up on vinyl directly from Wallflower Records. Holy Golden does not have any scheduled tour dates at this time.
