The collective known as Drugdealer has announced a new album due out in mid-April, and the first taste of Raw Honey has landed with the single, “Fools.” The song, accompanied with a new video is a mixture of modern chill wave pop and yacht rock thus proving that these guys may always have a toe in the past on everything they create.
Opening with a sexy saxophone and relaxed drums, the piano driven song is only accentuated by a groovy bass line and backing vocals that lay the chill vibes of the band on thick. With notes of classic rock, yacht rock and R&B, Drugdealer have no issues bringing seventies influences in on the song. The video shows the band recording the track in the studio in a way that feels like it’s coming from a time capsule thirty years ago.
You can stream the video above or on YouTube all you’d like, you can stream the song on all streaming sites and you can purchase it in all digital shops. You can also pre-order the new album Raw Honey directly from Mexican Summer Records. Drugdealer will be on tour in support of the album beginning April 12 in Los Angeles at Teragram Ballroom until August 4 at Pappy and Harriets in Pioneertown, CA.
