Big Thief is one of those bands that has you from the opening notes of essentially anything they play. After endless touring and the rising popularity that came after 2017’s Capacity, the New York band has announced that they inked with 4AD Records and they’re dropping a new album in May. Ahead of its release, they’ve just dropped the new track “UFOF” and it’s pretty glorious.
The song has a mix of ghostly notes and the intricate beauty that the band has become known for. The way the vocals sound like a secret creates a melodic undercurrent of sound that’s hard not to love in its tender approach. The song immediately stays with you after just one listen, and should excite anyone as to what the album will sound like.
You can stream “UFOF” on all streaming sites, you can purchase the song in all digital shops, and you can pre-order the album on limited edition translucent orange vinyl and on other formats directly from 4AD Records or from the band before its release date of May 03. Big Thief will be on tour beginning April 20 in San Diego, CA at The Irenic until November 10 in Washington, D.C. at 9:30 Club. A dollar from every ticket sold for the U.S. dates will go to Plus One on behalf of SAEF, Little Kids Rock and Youth Speaks and in Canada for DANS LA RUE, Sketch and UNYA. A complete listing of their upcoming performances can be accessed here.
