Noname Mesmerizes in Person

We were lucky enough to catch Noname in the midst of her Room 25 tour, and what we saw was an artist who can fill a room with energy and sound. From the opening bars to the closing moments, Noname never let up, performing a mixture of tracks from the album alongside older fan favorites. The experience was a hip hop set that held the audience’s attention like a vice, between songs and banter like she’d been performing for decades.

Opening with “Self,” it was just the launch pad for the Chicago rapper to tear through the mic with her eloquent skills like it owed her money. Her verses were on point, like solilloquies to the audience while she commanded attention and performed across the stage like a seasoned veteran. With a full band and backup singers in tow, the night belonged to Noname who let everyone know real fast that she was in control from beginning to end.

You can stream Room 25 on all streaming sites, you can purchase it in all digital shops or directly from her on Bandcamp. Noname will continue the Room 25 tour tomorrow night in Denver, CO at the Ogden Theatre until July 12 in Louisville, KY for Forecastle Festival. A complete listing of her upcoming tour dates can be found here

Everyone from Angel Olsen to Phoebe Bridgers, Wire to Yo La Tengo, Snail Mail to Soccer Mommy, Ghost to First Aid Kit, The Breeders to Protomartyr, and many more. He's a giant fan of music of pretty much any genre; but especially to the underdogs. He's been known to see more concerts in a week than many people will see in a year.
