India Tigers in Texas Expand Minds on New Single

For almost fifty years, Texas has had a rich history with psych rock. Maybe it’s the ghostly details of how the state’s history plays out, maybe it’s the trippy things you can hear on any given night, or even the fact that the state is rife with tales of apparitions in the night. On their new single “Wolves,” Galveston’s India Tigers in Texas continue that history with a song that’s as far out as it is engaging. The first single from their upcoming self-titled album produced by Steve Christensen (Khruangbin, Robert Ellis) due in May, the song is a definite trip that feels like could have only occurred down in Texas.

There’s an almost mysterious nature to how the song is laid out. It’s definitely psych, but the landscape is lush with tones and sounds that cause you to drop into the head space that the music evokes. The way the vocals almost dance with the psych heavy tones makes it all to feel like a trip that’s remitting multiple images while pulling you further down the rabbit hole.

You can stream the track above or on Bandcamp, you can also pre-order India Tigers In Texas from Bandcamp or on cassette or CD directly through Mas Music Records ahead of its May 5 release. India Tigers in Texas are set to perform multiple sets at SXSW, including the Mas Music and Wallflower Records showcase at Dozen Street on March 14 and at Full Circle Bar on March 15. They perform again on May 02 in Austin, May 03 in Houston at Continental Club and May 04 in Galveston at Bubba’s
