In the world of heavier music, the intense live sets from Baroness have never really disappointed. Currently in the midst of a co-headlining tour with Deafheaven, the band has just dropped the first single from their just announced new album Gold & Grey. The album produced by famed producer Dave Fridmann, “Borderlines” signals a tighter sound from the four piece while staying true to their heavy roots.
The song holds the intense and guitar driven sound that the band has always had. While it is heavy, it’s definitely more terse and focused, offering up a new interpretation of what the band has always done and has become known for. The heavier notes of the track come in and hit hard, with more melody. The video features all members singing the track with visual effects creating a trippy look. The song definitely hints at what the record will ultimately sound like while giving you a more epic production quality at the same time.
You can stream “Borderlines” on all streaming sites, you can purchase it in all digital outlets or you can pre-order Gold & Grey in multiple bundles and on multiple formats directly from Abraxan Hymns before its release date of June 14. Baroness is on tour tomorrow night at The UC Theatre in Berkeley, CA until April 13 at Decibel Metal and Beer Fest in Philadelphia, PA. A complete listing of their tour dates can be found here.
