Andy Stack of Wye Oak has been making music with plenty of people from Thor Harris to Helado Negro over the years. His output through those efforts and through Wye Oak has always been plentiful, and with his new project Joyero he’s ready to show the world his own thing. The first single from the project is called “Salt Mine,” and it’s a song that’s full of so much that you just need to hear it for yourself.
Part of what makes this track work so well, is that the song has compositions from lush synth movements and beat clusters that pull you in. Stack’s soft vocals seem to hover above the electronica he employs, while break beats come in and wash the track over your soul with ease. There’s a lot happening here, so much so that it makes us excited for what’s next with this project.
You can stream “Salt Mine” on all streaming sites or pick it up digitally from all online music shops including from the Merge Records’ Bandcamp. Joyero will be on tour starting April 12 at Doornroosje in Nijmegen, Netherlands until July 30 MRG30, the Merge Records 30th Anniversary in Carrboro, NC. A complete listing of his upcoming tour dates can be found here.
