Since their early days, Canada’s PUP have always made the kind of punk that was hard not to like. Melodic and snappy, the four piece have become the ambassadors for Canada’s growing punk scene overĀ the years. On their latest two singles, they continue to spread the word ahead of their upcoming full length Morbid Stuff due in early April.
With “Sibling Rivalry,” the energy is immediate and in your face. The way the guitars feel like they’re on fire before the drums hit, the way that the song is hard but not harsh when the vocals come in is masterful. The happy-go-lucky striding, there’s a lot here that’shard not to like with a chorus that feels like you should be singing right along with the band. On “Scorpion Hill” things start slower with an acoustic and a more soft beginning. It’s not bad, but it’s about a minute on before the band’s speedy intensity seeps in and the song takes off with the fevered pacing that the band has become known for.
You can stream both tracks on all streaming sites you can purchase them in all digital store fronts, or you can pre-order the upcoming album Morbid Stuff by PUP directly from the band’s web store or from Rise Records ahead of its April 05 release. PUP is on Tour beginning tomorrow in Calgary. AB at Commonwealth until AugustĀ 24 in Leeds, UK for Leeds Festival. A complete listing of their entire tour can be accessed here.
