The chillwave of Portland’s Reptaliens has definitely taken us by force. Their last album FM-2030 from 2017 was definitely a breath of fresh air in the music world. With relaxed vibes and a sound that’s easy going the first two singles off of their upcoming new album Valis have us excited for the album ahead of its April 26 release date.
The band’s new single “Venetian Blinds” has a soft and airy feel, like summer winds that brush your skin on a road trip. The song isn’t heavy by any means, but the way that the keys mix with the snappy pacing make the song work on multiple levels. The video contains snippets of the band on the road, offering a glimpse into their warped sense of humor.
That sense of humor plays out as well on the first single, “Shuggie II.” Still chill and easy going, the video is like a mix of bad infomercial and tourism video. The music has a bit more depth, offering more emotions while still staying easy going and keeping the band’s relaxed vibes in tact.
You can stream both tracks on all streaming platforms, you can purchase them in all digital music stores, or you can pre-order Valis directly from Captured Tracks before its April 26 release date. Reptaliens will be on tour beginning April 05 in Houston, TX at Warehouse Live until August 01 through August 04 at Pickathon in Happy Valley, OR.
