Justin Townes Earle has lived more than most in thirty seven years, though with his upcoming album The Saint of Lost Causes, it seems like he’s definitely learned a lot. The second single “Frightened by the Sound” has Townes Earle singing to the masses on behalf of the downtrodden, while evoking some of his strongest songwriting of his career.
When songs start out with a pedal steel, you may think they’re country though here, Townes Earle follows with his acoustic and his voice to bring the song closer to that of a troubadour travelling through town. There’s a more Americana sound to this track, while the honesty of Townes Earle’s vocals ring throughout the track. It feels personal, it hits with precision and the meandering pace of the song sticks with you long after you hear it.
You can stream the song on all streaming sites, you can purchase it in all digital outlets, or you can pre-order The Saint of Lost Causes on multiple formats and bundles directly from New West Records before it gets released on May 24. Justin Townes Earle will be on tour starting April 14 in Jacksonville, FL at Murray Hill Theatre until November 10 in Leeds, UK at Brudenell Social Club.
