The way in which Bleached has always approached punk and even pop touched indie rock has offered some of the most intriguing and catchy music to drop in the last decade. In their new single “Shitty Ballet” they take their sound further and prep fans for what’s next.

Opening with acoustic guitars, at first you’d think this is a new direction for the band. The pop fueled drive of the track has nuances of indie folk pop, with underpinnings of punk lying just below the surface. However when the song decides to go a bit heavier, it does so with raw power and pure energy. The video featuring the sisters playing while youthful girls dance in ballet attire in their presence evokes the energy of the switch in the music like getting punched in the face.

The video is available to stream above or on YouTube, “Shitty Ballet” is available to stream on all platforms and can be purchased digitally in all online music stores including on the Dead Oceans’ Bandcamp. Bleached will be on tour beginning May 20 in Chicago, IL at The Vic Theatre until July 11 in Los Angeles, CA at The Moroccan Lounge. A complete listing of their tour dates can be found here.
