The indie rock of California’s Apex Manor has always been at the top of our plays since they began in 2010. Now, eight years since their debut full length, they’re back with a new album Heartbreak City due in late May on Merge Records as well as a new single “Where My Mind Goes.” The song not only kills, but the lyric video for it gives fans a glimpse into their recording process for the album.
Snappy and tight, the song full of fuzzy licks and riffs hits just the right sweet spots to remind you of why you were a fan of the band oh so long ago. The video shows snapshots of the band recording alongside pieces from the surrounding area of where the new album was made. The music feels upbeat and fresh, full of murky bass lines and drums that hit like you want.
The video can be streamed on YouTube or above, the song is available to stream wherever you stream music, and can be purchased in all online music retailers. Heartbreak City is available for pre-order directly from Merge Records ahead of its May 31 release. Apex Manor is on tour starting May 01 in St Paul, MN at Turf Club until May 30 in Los Angeles, CA at Bootleg Theater. The band’s entire tour dates can be found here.
