The critically acclaimed sounds of British spoken word artist, rapper and novelist Kate Tempest have been away for what feels like too long. Three years after her last full length Let Them Eat Chaos, Tempest has returned with a stunning new track “Firesmoke” as well as an announcement of her upcoming full length The Book of Traps and Lessons due in the middle of June. Not only does the track signal her return, but it hits just right while coming off clean and fresh.
A top a hip hop beat, Tempest reads prose that has her come off like a lyrical assassin. Tempest sounds passionate in her guise, offering words towards a love that’s being remitted while she gazes in the beauty such feelings offer the soul. The track works and makes anyone who hears it excited for what’s next, and ultimately what the album will sound like.
The track is available to stream wherever you stream music, it can be purchased in all online music retailers, and The Books of Traps and Lessons can be pre-ordered directly from American Recordings/Republic Records ahead of its June 14 release. Kate Tempest will leave for tour May 03 at Nuits Botanique in Brussels, Belgium and will be on tour until August 18 at Pukkelpop in Hasselt, Belgium. A complete list of her tour dates can be found here.
