If you were unaware, Stef Chura made a record produced by Will Toledo of Car Seat Headrest. Last month Chura released the first single and it had an intensity that most wouldn’t place with what Chura has done in the past. Her new single “They’ll Never,” is just as forward and begins to show what her upcoming new full length Midnight will ultimately sound like when it finally drops in early June.
With a big open and jangly guitar tone, Chura sings into the ethos without reserve. Her vocals feel more open and free while also saddened and tarnished. The song, upbeat and falling more into her traditional indie rock structure also has touches of singer songwriter on it, making the overall feel come off with a more full circle approach. The vulnerable notes of her voice, the direct and honest guitar tones and the snappy pacing make “They’ll Never” pop and shimmer in a way that only Stef Chura’s voice as a songwriter can give it.
The song is available to stream wherever you stream music, it can be purchased in all online music retailers, and Midnight can be pre-ordered directly from Saddle Creek ahead of its June 07 release date. Stef Chura is on tour starting July 05 at The Empty Bottle in Chicago, IL until August 10 at The Back Room at Collectivo in Milwaukee, WI. Her complete tour schedule can be accessed here.
