Austin’s Glassing have always tread the lines of math meets post-hardcore. The three piece has enough elements to the sound to where sometimes they sound like a studied math rock trio and at other times they sound like something much heavier. Ahead of their new album Spotted Horse due in a week, their new single “Follow Through” proves that no matter what direction the band takes, it can be a mix of everything they bring to the table.
The true nature of how talented these guys are means that there’s a build that showcases the intricacies of their playing abilities. The track takes a while to really open up, but once it does it gets heavier and heavier. Not really metal, though you may hear riffs that remind you of the genre, the post-hardcore pieces that intertwine with the math rock touches make a sound that’s visceral and linear enough to possibly give you nightmares, or at least wake up your senses.
The single can be streamed at all streaming sites, it can be purchased from all online music stores and Spotted Horse can be pre-ordered directly from Brutal Panda before it gets released on May 17. Glassing will be performing on tour beginning in Austin at Barracuda on June 01 until July 13 at Haltom Theater in Haltom City, TX.
