In so many ways, the music of Glen Hansard is some of the best and untouched music out there. With his latest record This Wild Willing has moments of tension peppered throughout like the topping of a great antipasto dish. Hansard breaks the mold of what a modern solo album can sound like, and his new video for the track “Don’t Settle” is just as engaging.
The video opens with Hansard rooftop, looking out upon a dreary and grey morning. Writing in a journal, riding on the rail and walking through the streets, the video plays out like you may expect. But as Hansard interacts with others, as he plays guitar from the back of a vehicle and with a street performer, life occurs all around him. Through interpretive dance, everyone he encounters is moved by the music, which isn’t far from how the music itself makes you feel when you hear it.
“Don’t Settle” can be viewed above or on YouTube, the song can be streamed on all platforms and This Wild Willing can be purchased directly from Anti- Records in multiple formats from Anti- Records. Glen Hansard will be on tour starting tomorrow in Boston, MA at Orpheum Theatre until September 28 in Dana Point, CA at Ohana Music Festival. His complete tour schedule can be accessed here.
