Sleater-Kinney has always been a band up for a bit of reinvention, even if it was just through subtle touches on release to release. However with Saint Vincent at the helm of their upcoming album, their new single “Head on Home” is a nice reinvented version of their sound without changing things completely.
What’s immediately noticeable is that the song isn’t a giant departure in terms of sounding like what Sleater-Kinney sounds like. There are subtle nuances in production and approach that are definitely different, but it’s not like they’ve become an electro-pop band either. Treading closer to what their sound was like on their last release No Cities To Love, the single takes that sound and expands on it to glorious detail.
The song can be streamed on all streaming sites, it can be purchased in all digital music shops or directly from Mom+Pop Records and a limited run seven inch can be pre-ordered from the band here. Sleater-Kinney will be on tour beginning September 05 at Hopscotch Music Fest in Raleigh, NC until November 23 at Paramount Theatre in Seattle, WA.
