You don’t have to tell us that Thundercat is a genius, it’s something we’ve known since the early 2000’s. The bass genius and true funk master laid it all out on the line the other night while holding down the opening slot for the Anderson .Paak tour.
With an LED Thundercat logo behind him as he brought in the noise and brought in the funk, Thundercat had zero issues holding the crowd in the palm of his hands. Performing favorites both old and new, he really shined as he performed tracks from his last full length Drunk with ease. Even some in attendance who weren’t aware of who the bassist every performer wants to collaborate with was, all got down to the relaxed and fun vibes that he brought from the beginning to the end of his short set.
The entire Thundercat catalog can be streamed on all streaming sites, his latest release Drunk and the OG Ron and the Chopstars remixed version Drank can both be purchased in all digital music retailers or directly from Ninja Tune. Thundercat will be on tour tonight at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO until August 04 at Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre in London, UK. His complete tour schedule can be accessed here.
