Austin’s Cross Record makes music on her own terms. Her haunting vocals seem to pop off the instruments and create a sound that’s like no one else. With a new self-titled album due in August and a tour beginning in September, her new single “The Fly” has it’s own sound and captivates from beginning to end.
The dissonant synths and off-kilter beats that open the song have an almost funeral procession feel. When her voice comes in, it creates its own ethos that haunts and stirs as it glides along the pace she creates. The song has extra sound manipulation and synth use that takes your ears on a journey, as her soft vocals pull you in like you’re about to get told a secret. The whole structure of the track is far and away from what you may be used to, yet that’s what makes it so intriguing.
“The Fly” is available to stream on all platforms, it can be purchased from all digital music shops and Cross Record can be pre-ordered from Ba Da Bing Records ahead of its August 02 release. Cross Record will be on tour beginning September 04 in Marfa, TX at Bar Nadar Pool and Grill until September 29 in Atlanta, GA at The Earl. Her complete tour listings can be accessed here.
