In the midst of music moving faster than we want sometimes, we miss things, Being big fans of the big guitar sound that Bob Mould incorporates into his music, we were sad that we somehow missed his cover of the Buzzcocks track “I Don’t Mind.” Mould, with a great pedigree and penchant for fuzzy rock that falls all over his latest full length Sunshine Rock, definitely gives this song his all from open to close.
With his distorted riffs and ferocious energy, Mould gives the song plenty of legs while still making it his own. The backing vocals are a nice addition, while it’s still recognizable as the original song, it’s definitely a heartfelt cover coming from an artist that should be the one who adds his take on the classic punk track.
The song can be streamed above or on YouTube, Sunshine Rock can be streamed on all platforms or purchased directly from Merge Records. Bob Mould will be on tour beginning August 02 at SuperUHO Festival in Primosten, Croatia until November 16 at Shiiine On Weekender in Minehead, UK. His complete tour schedule, including dates in the US can be accessed here.
