When you hear the music of Underworld, it’s hard to believe they’ve been around as long as they have. Their sounds and tones alone are on a whole other level, and as their latest collaboration with Ø [Phase] proves, they aren’t slowing down anytime soon. With “Border Country” the duo holds to their dance roots while changing things up in the process.
The way they craft the mix of hi hats and underpinned beats is like no one else, making for an almost hyper dub sound. With nuances that fall between rave culture era sounds and modern festival electronica, Underworld find a space where their modulated textures shine, with so much orchestration in the arrangements honing in on that lush and texturized sound they’ve become known for.
“Border Country” is available to stream on all platforms, it can be purchased in all digital music stores and the band’s album DRIFT is available from Manchester Street Poem. Underworld will be at Roskilde Festival in Roskilde, Denmark tonight until December 07 at Wembley Arena in London, UK. A complete listing of the duo’s live performances can be accessed here.
