Depending on where you live, you may or may not have heard of London’s Dry Cleaning. The post-punk group has created quite the buzz with a mixture of support sets and headlining shows despite having no music online. That all changes today as they’ve just announced a new E.P. Sweet Princess out in August and they’ve just released the lead single “Magic of Meghan” that should make you their newest fan.
There’s something about how the band can meld down tuned guitars and deadpan vocals into a magical sound. Cutting through the BS of studio trickery, the song has a very in the moment feel without having the harshness that sound can sometimes divulge. It’s the better parts of indie rock and post-punk put together in the most British way possible, which is perhaps why it works so well.
The video can be viewed above or on YouTube, the single can be streamed on all streaming sites and purchased in all digital outlets. Sweet Princess is available for pre-order directly from It’s OK Records ahead of its August 16 release. Dry Cleaning is set to tour beginning July 18 at Lattitude Festival in Suffolk, UK until August 23 at YES in Manchester, UK. The band’s complete tour dates can be accessed here.
