Aside from being married to Margo Price, there’s a good chance you aren’t familiar with the music of Nashville’s Jeremy Ivey. Ivey, a longtime behind the scenes player in the Tennessee music community is ready to release his first swing and stepping out of the shadows and into the spotlight. His full length debut The Dream and The Dreamer is due in September, and his lead single “Diamonds Back To Coal” should get you to keep your eye on him.
With guitar tones that sound like they’re being played from the bottom of a stairwell, Ivey brings a troubadour’s soul to his brand of msuic. Not really country and too storied to be indie rock, Ivey is really just offering up some of that sunshine based sound that littered the seventies without lifting from it. As american as apple pie, the traditional rock tones should remind listeners of the kind of rock that rarely exists, yet makes you long for more of it when you hear it again.
The single is available to stream wherever you stream music, it can be purchased from all digital music retailers and The Dream and The Dreamer can be pre-ordered directly from Anti- Records before its September 13 release. Jeremy Ivey doesn’t have any tour dates listed, though that should change soon.
