While Cleveland indie rockers The Sidekicks are in the midst of what appears to be a never ending tour, the four piece has just released a new stand alone single, and it’s pretty hard not to like. Where the band’s last album Happiness Hours had a mixture of sounds, the new track “Ode To Jerry” is straightforward indie rock that should hold your ears the moment you press play.
Starting with dissonant organs and plenty of feedback, when the song gets going it’s a mix of indie rock methodology and upbeat timing. The melodic nature of how the song is laid out means you won’t turn it off and the snappy stride means that you’ll be bopping your head and singing along from beginning to end.
“Ode To Jerry” is available to stream wherever you stream music, it can be purchased in all digital outlets and Happiness Hours can be physically purchased directly from Epitaph Records. The Sidekicks are on tour tonight in Saint Francisville, MO at Duck Room at Blueberry Hill until September 21 in Toronto, Canada at Sneaky Dee’s. The band’s complete tour schedule can be found here.
