Oakland’s Boy Scouts makes the kind of music that warms your soul. With a mix of indie folk and indie rock, her latest single “Expiration Date” is the kind of jangly pop that you wished you heard more of, while you’re eagerly awaiting her full length Free Company due in August.
Mixing in twangy guitar tones with her sweetly touched vocals, Boy Scouts draws your ears in closer. The double vocals here are as hook filled as the noodled guitars that run all over the song. The chorus to the song is endearing as well, and offer plenty to hold your interest on the jangled song. The video looks like a birthday party for oncoming strangers set up via a lemonade stand styled stand in front of a home. But as sweet as the video appears, it’s the music that should be the focus here, as Boy Scouts proves they’re an act to keep an eye on.
“Expiration Date” can be purchased in all digital outlets or streamed on all streaming sites. The video can be viewed above or on YouTube and Free Company can be pre-ordered directly from Anti- Records before its August 30 release date. Boy Scouts will be on tour starting September 11 at The Rebel Lounge in Phoenix, AZ until November 02 in Nashville, TN at The High Watt. The band’s complete tour schedule can be accessed here.
