While we were all excited to hear that Twin Peaks had a large scale tour that they announced a little while ago, the news of a new album is more exciting. That album, Lookout Low due in September should be a step above the band’s previous efforts if it’s as intriguing as the sound on their lead single, “Dance Through It.” More expansive and relaxed, the songwriting here takes the band’s image to a whole new place.
The song has a lot of instrumentation, showing how strong the new album could be. Varying percussive instruments and a chill demeanor meet the vocals until the song picks up pace. When group vocals come in and the guitar becomes more prominent, the song has a new life and takes on a whole new form. Keys coming from multiple directions offer a sound that’s closer to chill wave meets yacht rock, without being either while horns even make their way on the track at a later point. The song is well structured and gives the band a fuller approach than on previous works.
The video can be viewed above or on YouTube, the song is available to stream wherever you stream music and Lookout Low can be pre-ordered on multiple formats directly from Grand Jury Music ahead of its September 13 release. Twin Peaks is on tour beginning this Sunday in Toronto, Canada at RBC Echo Beach until December 14 at The Basement East in Nashville, TN. The band’s complete tour schedule can be found here.
