Jimmy Eat World Turns Up the Heat in Person

Jimmy Eat World has been tearing up stages for over twenty-five years. I caught the band back in the nineties before they released Static Prevails, and what I can tell you is that not only have they gained more energy, they’ve become tighter over the years. We caught them recently for their tour with Third Eye Blind, and we noticed that all of the spotlights the band received for their hit album Bleed American gave the band plenty of practice for longevity.

From beginning to end, the band stoked the flames of their set with audience banter and playing the songs that people came out to hear. Opening with “Pain” and closing with “The Middle,” the guys peppered the entire set with fan favorites like “Lucky Denver Mint” from Clarity and “Sweetness” from Bleed American. Not to be outdone, the band felt like they were in the midst of a greatest hits tour as they ripped through the set like a buzz saw to butter.

All of the Jimmy Eat World catalog can be streamed on all streaming sites, their music can be purchased in all online music stores or physically directly from the band’s web store. Jimmy Eat World will be appearing on tour tonight at Ak-Chin Pavilion in Phoenix, AZ until September 08 at Gunnersbury Park & Playground in London, UK. The band’s entire tour can be tracked here

David Garrick has spent the last five years interviewing some of the most intriguing and engaging artists performing today. Everyone from Angel Olsen to Phoebe Bridgers, Wire to Yo La Tengo, Snail Mail to Soccer Mommy, Ghost to First Aid Kit, The Breeders to Protomartyr, and many more. He's a giant fan of music of pretty much any genre; but especially to the underdogs. He's been known to see more concerts in a week than many people will see in a year.
