First Two Singles Off Upcoming Album by Long Beard are Wondrous

We’ve been quiet fans of the music that New Jersey’s Long Beard makes since we first heard it about four years ago. Introspective and soft at times, energetic and emotional at others, the band is set to release a new album called Means To Me in the middle of September. The first two singles off of the record show different sides to the bedroom pop sound, while giving you more than enough to become a fan and keep an eye on whatever the band does next.

On “Sweetheart,” the music has a relaxed atmosphere in which it exists before the soft vocals come in and cause the music to bloom. The mixture between the gentle tones causes you to listen closer while this hook comes from a second guitar out of left field and pulls you closer. The bridge alone here is worth noting, but the arrangements are on another level as well.

The title track to the album “Means To Me” has a more sweeping tone where the vocals and the guitar seem to team up and wash over you like a baptismal. As they tenderly build up the pace of the song, again a secondary guitar comes in, this time to add depth through a melodic noodling that breathes another life into the track. The backing vocals do the same, and the song just stays with you, even though it steers from traditional structuring from open to close.

Both songs are available to stream on all streaming sites, they can be purchased wherever you download your music and Means To Me can be pre-ordered directly from Double Double Whammy Records ahead of its September 13 release. Long Beard will be on tour beginning September 20 in Portsmouth, NH at 3S Artspace until September 26 in Brooklyn, NY at Baby’s All Right. Her complete live music schedule can be found here
