For most bands, announcing that you plan to release a third full length album in under one year, would seem odd to say the least. For a project fronted by Robert Pollard it’s just par for the course. After a double record it seems that Guided By Voices either really has a ton of songs to release or they’re trying to set some new record for album drops in a year. On their new single “Heavy Like The World” they prepare your ears for their new twelve track full length Sweating The Plague due in October.

The new song has that melodic dual guitar sound that helped make the lo-fi heart throbs a household name twenty years ago. There’s a nice hook that comes in almost immediately, while the quieted vocals show a different side to what Pollard has become known for. Treading closer to Half Smiles of The Decomposed era GBV, the song is a welcome return to a more restrained sound

The song can be streamed on all streaming sites while Sweating The Plague can be pre-ordered physically from GBV INC ahead of its October 25 release. Guided By Voices will be on tour tonight in Waynesville, OH at Ohio Renaissance Festival Grounds until December 31 in Los Angeles, CA at Teragram Ballroom.
