Before the end of this month, Chicago’s Whitney will release their much anticipated sophomore album Forever Turned Around. While the album has a story all its own as of how it came to be, the band’s new single “Used To Be Lonely” and it’s subsequent video are definitely something you should check out. With harmonic vocals and a lightly graced melody, the song is a stunning example of what the band can do with their music.
The way the dual vocals open things up, the way the piano dances along like a simmering crystal in the sunlight and the way the song opens up like a friend holding a secret all exemplify the beauty that Whitney can produce. When the song reaches the third verse it gets collided with big tones from these Laurel Canyon sounding guitars and multiple horn clusters that give it a grandiose identity.
The song can be streamed on all platforms, it can be purchased in all digital outlets and the video can be viewed above as well as on YouTube. Forever Turned Around is available for pre-order on multiple formats and bundles directly from Secretly Canadian before its August 30 release. Whitney will be on tour beginning August 13 in Sentrum, Norway at Landmark until December 08 in Chicago, IL at Thalia Hall. The band’s complete tour routing can be accessed here.
