David Bazan made fans wait over a decade for a new album by Pedro The Lion, though Phoenix is everything a fan of the well traveled indie rockers could ever ask for. On their recent tour the band has zero problem laying it all on the line and making the shows more about the music than anything else.
Catching the band the other night down in the heart of Texas, the heat outside was triple digits but the performance the band gave fans in attendance wasn’t anything to balk at temperature wise. Opening with newer track “Yellow Bike” before swaying between older tracks and newer ones, the trio not only dug deep in terms of material, but had plenty of banter with the audience about what songs were about and more. The Seattle group kept the show more music focused, with just a film behind them of the streets and neighborhoods of Phoenix, never really letting up and just going all in with every song they played.
Phoenix is available for purchase directly from Polyvinyl Records on multiple formats and in various bundles. Pedro The Lion will be on tour tonight in Fort Lauderdale, FL at Revolution until September 07 in Seattle, WA at Neumos. The band’s complete tour schedule can be accessed here.
