El Lago Drops “Devotion” Video & Releases Colors on Vinyl

The music that some bands make is that of mythos, perhaps in how they go about writing songs and how they arrange them. When we first saw Texas’ El Lago perform, we were mystified at their stage presence and how they conducted themselves in a live setting. Now with a new E.P. due later this year, the Galveston four piece has just announced that their debut album Colors is available on vinyl and to celebrate that, they’ve released an endearing new video for the whimsical track “Devotion.” Whether on film through a narrative or on record, El Lago proves that great music will always find its place in our ears.

The video, opened by a beach comber with a metal detector, finds him locate the Colors cassette and immediately replace his island tunes with it. The love story that unfolds between two members who are married in real life is sweet and endearing. As members of the band filter in and out of the story line, the band eventually takes the stage and performs. The song, one of the more catchy numbers from the debut, has these dreamy guitars that play alongside the snappy drums and bass to create one of the biggest hooks you’ll hear in a while. The way the vocals sound like an apparition floating above the music without sounding far removed is masterful and a testament to the recording.

The video is available to view above or on YouTube, Colors is available on opaque pink vinyl directly from Wallflower Records, and it can be purchased in all digital outlets as well as streamed on all streaming platforms. El Lago has announced two shows later this year to celebrate the release of their upcoming E.P. Pyramid. They’ll be at Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe in Galveston, TX on October 25 and at Satellite Bar in Houston, TX on October 26. Tour dates for the band are expected to be announced sooner than later.
