Jamie Drake Sounds Like a Modern Touch on the Past

Depending on what genres of music you gravitate towards, there’s a chance you may not know the name Jamie Drake. The LA based indie folk artist is on the heels of releasing a new album in a couple of weeks titled Everything’s Fine. There’s something about her music that blends the past with the present that’s refreshing and hard to shake. On her new single “To My Love” you should get reminded of artists like Carole King and Carly Simon without feeling like you’re hearing a blast from the past.

Opening with soft vocals and a melody driven piano, the pacing of the track has a very seventies a.m. radio sound with new pop touches. Drake’s vocals have that sound that’s unadulterated while softly gracing what artists of that era did when they dropped singles. With folk pop nuance, the song is essentially pop though it doesn’t have the saccharine sweetness of modern pop at the same time. The way the vocals play off the subtle melody, it should stay with you days after you stream it.

“To My Love” is available to stream on all platforms, it can be purchased in all online music retailers and Everything’s Fine is available for pre-save directly from Antifragile Music. Jamie Drake is on tour beginning September 18 in Los Angeles, CA at Nichols Canyon Music until November 01 in Decatur, GA at Eddie’s Attic. Her complete tour schedule can be accessed here
