Slipknot Brings Masked Energy & Heavier Riffs in Person

Slipknot is definitely in the midst of a revival of sorts. With a tour that’s sold more tickets than many of us can count, we caught the band in the Texas heat with Derek Rathbun on hand to capture the band’s thrilling set in person. Backed by their new album We Are Not Your Kind, the Iowa based group tore through their set with vigor and energy.

Though with as much energy as the band brought to their set, they were calculated in how it all played out. Opening with “People=Shit” from their album Iowa, the nine piece group whipped the audience into a frenzy of masked chaos. A couple of tracks later, tearing into new track “Unsainted,” it was clear that the band was ruling the evening in a set list that went from the band’s early years right up to their new album. In a fifteen song set with a two song encore, the seventeen track set was like watching a surgical assault of the senses.

We Are Not Your Kind is available to purchase in all digital music stores, it can be purchased in multiple bundles and formats including a limited edition clear vinyl directly from Roadrunner Records and it can be streamed on all streaming sites. Slipknot is on tour again beginning September 27 in Louisville, KY at Louder Than Life until February 24 in Helsinki, Finland at Hartwall Arena.
