There are some people in music who feel like you can never release enough new songs into the world, a sentiment we think South London’s Dry Cleaning may employ. While their last EP isn’t even a month old, the post-punk group has announced another EP Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks set for release in October. While that’s quick by most standards, their lead single “Sit Down Meal” should make anyone unfamiliar with them an immediate fan.
The song has the stark signature of the band, with an almost deadpan vocal delivery. While the drums and a key open the song, a guitar comes in with a distorted drone as well as a melodic tone that opens things up. Where the magic lies with this band is their spirit of not trying to impress while impressing at the same time. The way the vocals are almost talk-sing style and the drone of the post-punk tone fall all over the song that will stay with you after you hear it.
The song can be streamed on all platforms while both Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks EP and Sweet Princess will be compiled as a single vinyl release and it can be pre-ordered directly from the band’s web store. Dry Cleaning is on tour October 17 at Workman’s Club in Dublin, Ireland until November 24 in Sheffield, UK at Picture House Social. The band’s complete touring schedule is available for access here.
