Montreal four piece Corridor isn’t a household name in many circles just yet. However since the band’s first release six years ago they’ve seemed to garner a pretty strong fan base that follows them with all that they release. Now with a new album Junior due in the middle of October, the band’s lead single “Topographe” could easily become your favorite new song.
Opening with these almost symphonic sounding guitars, the drums come in like fireworks before a second guitar drops and starts developing the catchy track. The vocals sound like three takes on top of one another while creating a hypnotic tone that just stays with you as hooks pull you closer and closer. The way the song is arranged with vocals dancing on and off the track makes for something that stays in your head as it plays. The song builds and never really explodes all over, but its end isn’t disappointing at the same time.
The single is available for purchase in all digital outlets and it can be streamed on all platforms while Junior is available for pre-order directly from Sub Pop Records on multiple formats and bundles ahead of its October 18 release. Corridor is on tour starting October 23 at Boot and Saddle in Philadelphia, PA until December 13 at Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles, CA. The band’s complete tour routing is available here.
