In the time since they’ve been together, Chicago’s Wilco has certainly gone through a lot. Evolving with each release while offering some of the best arranged music going, their new single and subsequent video for “Everyone Hides” shows that their upcoming album Ode To Joy due in October will keep the good songs coming.
The song takes the folk based touches that the band has employed in the past and mixes them in an upbeat swirl of tones that’s hard not to love. The squealing tones that emanate from Nels Cline’s six string, the snappy drums from Glen Kotchke and Jeff Tweedy’s signature vocals showcase the strengths of the band while the track just pulls you closer and closer with its up tone. The video, featuring all of the members for the first time in a long time, has each respective one doing their best to hide from something or perhaps one another. Ending with the band performing on a roof top like some Liverpool lads, the video is as engaging as the track itself.
The video can be viewed above or on YouTube, the song can be purchased in all digital music stores or streamed on all streaming sites while Ode To Joy is available for pre-order on multiple formats directly from the Wilco web store. Wilco is set to tour beginning tonight in Zurich, CH at Volkshaus until January 25 in Mexico City, Mexico at Teatro Metropolitan. The band’s entire tour schedule is available for viewing here.
