Rwanda’s The Good Ones make the kind of music that can transport you to another place. In some ways, the tones of their vocals and instruments can transport you to another time as well. On their new single “Where Did You Go Wrong, My Love,” they feature Nels Cline. The song has a spiritual tone that should prepare you for their new album due in November.
Opening with a percussion sound like tapping and these lovely guitar tones, the song gets directed by vocals. Pushing ahead while multiple voices enter the track, the way they work off of one another is lush in sound. Like a love letter, the song feels personal and honest. The Good Ones seem to have an ability to steer your ears in the right direction. While the guitar work from Cline here is as masterful as you’d expect.
The song can be streamed on all platforms or purchased from all digital music retailers while RWANDA, you should be loved can be pre-ordered directly from Anti Records before its November 08 release. The Good Ones are on tour tonight at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, OR until October 05 at Largo at The Coronet in Los Angeles, CA. The band’s complete tour schedule can be accessed here.
