Canada is full of great artists, some of which never get traction in the states. With their third album Junior due in the middle of October, Montreal’s Corridor seem to have it all figured out, including how to get ahead in the U.S. Their second single “Domino” leans heavily into a mixture of post-punk and dream pop enough to stay with you for a minute.
At first you think it’s a dream pop song that keeps you up as the day goes on. The vocals lead to this cheery atmosphere as well. Of course the band changes direction in heading closer to a post-punk meets Krautrock sound that contains a bass that leads the way. The melodious ring in the guitars feels effervescent, the dreamy hooks stay in their intended target before the band brings things back around. The chaos that returns has a heft to it, even in the more chill vein and lends to a more focused sound overall.
The song can be streamed on all streaming platforms or purchased in all digital outlets. Junior can be pre-ordered directly from Sub Pop before its October 18 release. Corridor will be on tour beginning Wednesday October 23 at Boot & Saddle in Philadelphia, PA until December 13 at Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles, CA.
