UK trio Kero Kero Bonito isn’t slowing down. As the band grows into their audience they seem to keep dropping new music. While they have released more in the last year than some bands that have been around for far longer, their new EP Civilisation I shows the depth of how far they’ve come in a short time frame.
The opener “Battle Lines” has the band digging deep into a more organic pop sound. Using hardware only for these songs, the hard work pays off. The track pops and sparkles while still sounding real, lending your ears to the natural progression. The trio makes good use of their attributes here with the vocals having a soft touch while still containing plenty of hooks. While we’ve already heard the second track “When The Fires Come,” the third song “The River” is definitely worth digging into. Sticking with the EP’s theme of nature, the song sounds like the band though it treads new territory as well. It falls perfectly on your ears as the instrumentation mixes with the vocals to create a harmonious tone you can’t forget.
The EP can be purchased directly from Polyvinyl Records, it’s available to stream on all streaming sites or to be purchased from all digital music retailers. Kero Kero Bonito is on tour beginning October 03 at The Basement East in Nashville, TN until December 07 at The Alex Blake Charlie Sessions in Singapore, SG. Their complete touring route can be accessed here.
