Sleater-Kinney Sounds More Like Their Earlier Selves on New Song

When Sleater-Kinney released their latest full length The Center Won’t Hold, we weren’t as into it as their previous releases. With their tour in support of the album starting next week, they’ve released a new single “ANIMAL” that sounds closer to their earlier works while still holding on to their new approach.

Centering around a dark toned guitar and drum progression, the vocals stand out here in the best way possible. The song lends itself closer to how the band sounded on their previous album No Cities To Love. Utilizing the two guitars and drums, the track is classic Sleater-Kinney but new at the same time. The lyric video has this mix of imagery and animation that keeps the lyrics in your head as the song plays out.

“Animal” can be streamed on all streaming sites, it can be purchased in all digital outlets and the lyric video can be viewed above or on YouTube. A special edition vinyl for “ANIMAL” will be available directly from the band at their tour dates. Sleater-Kinney is on the road beginning October 09 at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox in Spokane, WA until March 01, 2020 at Vicar Street in Dublin, Ireland. The band’s complete tour schedule can be accessed here.
